Originally built as a summer home for a wealthy Adelaide family, this Adelaide Hills homestead and farm has been lovingly restored, celebrating original features, whilst offering modern ammenities like heated floors and wi-fi.

The history of our home is still a mystery to us. We’ve spent time researching and there’s scant information available on the origins of Piney Ridge. We believe there is a Hayward or Barr-Smith family connection. The main home has 3 seperate pieces that were joined together at some stage, and the pool seems to have been added in the 70s. It originally did not have a roof. Sadly there were other buildings that have been demolished over the years. We are grateful to whoever managed the paddocks back then as we are clear of paddock rock, making the property ideal to hay.

 

The stables and horse facilities were clearly built by a lover of horses, as they occupy the premium spot on the property, with the best views. We have had horse tenants over the years, and whilst we welcome short term guests looking for a place to stay but will not be considering long-term horse agistment.
